BASELWORLD 2015

The 2015 edition of Baselworld, unmissable event that brings together under one roof the most influential players in the watch and jewelery world, was inaugurated on March 19 by Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann. With over 1500 brands representing different sectors of industry and more than 4,000 journalists from around the world until 26 March 2015.

 

Baselworld is recognized worldwide as the essential meeting point for the watch and jewelery. Baselworld is distinguished by its ability to bring together under one roof all the most important players in the industry: watchmakers, jewelers, diamond dealers, precious stones, pearls and, of course, machine suppliers and members of the armature. Every year 150 000 professionals meet in Basel to "take the pulse" of the industry, discover new trends and buy the latest creations of the 1,500 brands represented. Baselworld, the heart of the whole industry now widespread throughout the world, year after year confirms its role as a world leader in industry events. Envied and enviable position that must be defended vigorously. For this reason Baselworld evolves from year to year, gaining more and more functionality and efficiency and offers constantly innovating to meet the needs of the public in continuous evolution. According to Sylvie Ritter, Director General of Baselworld 'attractiveness and enthusiasm generated by this sector continues to grow, "and, just as important," the charm for end customers and media interest continues uninterrupted".

 

 

René Kamm, CEO of MCH Group, said he was very honored by the fact that it was the Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann to have inaugurated Baselworld and stressed the importance attached by the Swiss government in this important event as well as the industry of watches and jewelery.
Kamm has paid tribute to a legend of the industry: Jacques J. Duchêne, President of the Exhibitors' Committee, suddenly passed away shortly before the opening of the Show watch and jewelery. Highlighted the excellent quality of Duchêne and "tireless commitment" with which these "has contributed decisively to be given the status Baselworld today's global prestige." This year, Jacques J. Duchêne would celebrate two anniversaries: his 60th participation at Baselworld and the 20th anniversary of his presidency of the Exhibitors' Committee.

 

Christoph Brutschin, State Councillor of the Canton of Basel-City, welcomed guests expressing the warmest wishes of the governments of Basel-Country and Basel City. He likened the event to a clock: "Baselworld is similar to the manufacture of a sophisticated clockwork mechanism, its organization requires an exceptional commitment, a passion and a high level of accuracy". Continuing the metaphor from the world of watchmaking said: "The manufacture of a wide variety of movements adjusted precisely to the smallest details in order to work harmoniously Baselworld makes an extraordinary event at the highest international levels". Brutschin congratulated Baselworld for its economic influence on the region, with particular reference to the thousands of people who visit the city during the eight-day event, generating 13 000 jobs locally.
He also paid homage to Jacques J. Duchêne: "With passion and tireless commitment has dedicated his entire life to the development of Baselworld leaving an indelible mark in the field. Constantly aimed at contributing to the sustainability of Baselworld world renowned salon".

n closing the opening ceremony, Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann praised watchmaking as an art form, describing it as follows: "With the invention of the mechanical clock time is literally become an art. A mastery that reaches higher levels in terms of precision, technological ingenuity and aesthetics constantly evolving. " As a federal councilor responsible for research, innovation and work, Schneider-Ammann stressed the importance to Switzerland of a sector that has become an economic force of the first magnitude which has more than 500 companies with more than 50 000 collaborators.

 

The magazine Luxury files, as happens in 15 years, is present at Baselworld with a special distribution in the lounge dedicated to the most renowned international journals.
