The Wealth Report by Knight Frank 2019

The latest edition of The Wealth Report from Knight Frank; major player in the arena of luxury property worldwide, shows yet again how Italy and specifically Tuscany are still very much in the spotlight for foreign investors.  The results of the Prime International Residential index (PIRI 100) – highlighting the 100 places in the world of greatest importance for investment by the super-rich, shows that the Cultural cities such as Florence are still very much in demand, with the city of Lucca showing up as having had strong demand growing over the past few years. This interest is without doubt due to stable prices in a city that is easy to live in, with a largely pedestrian centre and surrounded by hills that provide attractive residential areas, a short distance from the centre.

The Tuscan countryside has remained stable in price terms, with potential buyers searching for property with some land to grow vines and olives – as well as full-blown wine estates seen as a good commercial investment, particularly Montalcino and San Gimignano.

The island of Elba is enjoying a positive moment in the market, with prices still relatively low compared to other island or coastal areas.  Even Forte dei Marmi, which suffered big losses when the Russians stopped investing there, has seen a resurgence of foreign investors for the coastal properties and also for inland areas with sea views, such as Capezzano, Pianore and Camaiore.
